From sharecropper’s son to TIME Magazine's Most Influential People list … Danville may not be one of Virginia’s largest cities, but its people are no less creative, innovative and passionate. There may be no greater example of the limitless contributions our community can make on the world than Danville native Greg Robinson. Mr. Robinson's journey from Dan River High School to the helm of one of NASA's most ambitious projects is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance and the pursuit of excellence. With a distinguished career spanning 33 years at NASA, Mr. Robinson orchestrated 114 missions for the Science Mission Directorate, lent his expertise to 21 shuttle launches and led a formidable team of more than 20,000 scientists, engineers and support staff on the James Webb Space Telescope project. Renowned for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to exploration, Mr. Robinson earned the prestigious 2022 Distinguished Presidential Rank Award and a well-deserved placement on TIME Magazine's list of the 100 Most Influential People of 2022. This event is open to all ages! The Danville Science Center will be on hand with some family friendly astronomy and space-related activities before the talk. The Science Center, Averett University, the City of Danville and the Danville Regional Foundation invite you to come and hear Mr. Robinson’s captivating story and his inspirational message of the power of community and teamwork to unlock discovery and potential. The event takes place at the Carrington Pavilion, located at 629 Craghead Street, just across from the Science Center. Gates will open at 6:15 p.m., and the talk will begin at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.
